Ponies, cattle and donkeys roam free throughout the New Forest, and swans waddle on the shore of the (tidal) Beaulieu river. These beauties were basking in sunshine yesterday. Beaulieu Palace House is just visible on right.

Isn’t this pic by my friend Wendy fabulous? Surely a #picoftheday! Today London taxi drivers will offer free journeys to military veterans heading to the march past the Cenotaph for Remembrance Sunday. The decade-long tradition was first formally organised in 2009 and the Poppy Cab service has since helped veterans attend the commemorations to the war dead on Whitehall in the capital. Today, veterans will be able to catch a black cab from a number of mainline train stations. The majority will be dropped off at Admiralty Arch by Trafalgar Square ahead of the service and parade. Taxis volunteering to take part can be identified by a Poppy Cab logo placed in their windscreen. Some will also be offering special pickups for groups or those with disabilities in need of collecting from home. Each year, as Big Ben strikes 11am and marks the start of the two minutes’ silence, a long line of parked taxis forms on Westminster Bridge where they wait to collect veterans after the march. Cabbies originally devised the facility when a group realised they could help veterans attend the event, as all London black cabs are wheelchair accessible. rememberance #veterans #blackcab #poppycab #taxi #taxis #london @londonevcompany
