A close friend whilst on a visit a few days ago to Kent for her sister’s significant birthday fulfilled a long-held wish to see the lavender fields in the Darent Valley. For many years my friend had wanted to see the #lavender fields in bloom. The farming family who have owned the property for multiple generation diversified from traditional farming since the valley was her childhood playground. Here she used to venture along country lanes, walk safely across pasture land and through woods – freedom and adventure. #Kent #DarentValley

#Repost @rona.cockerpoo ・・・ Two years ago today, whilst out walking, Aunty Molly’s front right and back left legs locked up and she was immobilised. Dad rushed her to the vet where poly-arthritis was diagnosed and a pain-relieving injection was administered. These pics were taken at home after seeing the vet. Look at her eyes; no sparkle ~ gone. It never returned. She recovered about 90% mobility over the next few weeks, but it was the beginning of her end 13 months later (Aug 2017) with a gradual mobility deterioration, onset of dementia and ultimately loss of sight. Dad says he doesn’t wish to put any doggy, or himself, through that pain again. In the future, but only when the time is right, we’re going to say farewell early whilst my QofL is still good. He has many happy memories of Molly but the final year rather clouds them. #cockerspaniel

It was a lovely day yesterday in Winchester, fresher and cooler than of late. This is the Hospital of St Cross, a short stroll from the city centre along the River Itchen across water meadows. In many ways it is Winchester’s best kept secret so far as tourists are concerned. It is a tranquil community founded in 1132 and incorporates a very large church, barns, gardens and almshouses founded in 1132. St Cross is home to 25 Brothers. The Hospital of St Cross is famous for its unique and ancient tradition of providing the Wayfarer’s Dole. The Dole is a horn of beer and a morsel of bread given to any visitor who requests it. The custom was founded by a monk from Cluny in France, whose holy order always gave bread and wine to travellers. The tradition still continues today. But if you don’t request the Dole you won’t be offered it! St Cross is a five minute diversion from the M3 (J11) if you should be down in this neck of the woods and would like to follow the tradition and take the Dole. #bestkeptsecret

I don’t follow #football or #worldcup2018 but I wish #England 🇬🇧 well for today’s #semifinal. If we win I may even watch the #final on Sunday, but don’t bet on it!

She has to go, she really does. The PM has defied the single biggest vote in our history and let down the 82.4% of the electorate who backed parties that said they were committed to leaving the European Union at the general election. She has been downright evasive and betrayed those who put their faith in her. Me, for example.
