Today is the tercentenary of the birth of England’s greatest gardener, Lancelot ‘Capability’ Brown in 1716. It is estimated that Brown was responsible for over 170 gardens surrounding the finest country houses and estates in Britain, often perfecting what nature had already started, such that it can often be difficult to distinguish natural landscape from a Capability Brown confection such as this scene of bucolic perfection at Chatsworth in Derbyshire. http://ift.tt/2bQ8cxv
